Getting Back to Our Routine - Surviving Motherhood

by Kimberly on October 12, 2011

I was determined to get us back into our usual routine this week, after such a difficult week?.last week I literally did nothing and poor Luke spent more time in front of the TV than usual while I agonized over how difficult it was to get flights out to Kansas City, which is why we ended up just driving. I found myself so indecisive that at times Julian had to step in to help, but only when I was a heap of crying mess on the floor. Note to self: don?t go shopping for something to wear at a funeral by yourself. Luke was no help, he didn?t like anything I picked out. I ended up asking the lady at the counter for fashion advice because I was wasting too much time standing there wondering what to do next.

So, I forced myself to go to our usual class at The Little Gym on Monday, which Luke always loves. Have I mentioned how much I love the instructors for these classes? We?ve had Miss Ashley and now we have Miss Cassie and they literally feel like family after the hour-long bonding we have each week chasing after Luke! So I guess it was only appropriate that when Cassie mentioned that she missed us the previous week I nearly burst into tears about my Grandfather to her. It?s funny how you get caught out by these little moments, up until then I hadn?t cried for a while and was feeling OK! So that?s another bonus for going to The Little Gym ? where else would you find gym teachers so wonderful they?ll let you cry on their shoulder?! ha!

The other thing I did on Monday was try out a new recipe! It?s called Buffalo Chicken Rolls and they were YUMMY! Julian was working from home so I made these for lunch for us (during Luke?s nap) and we both loved them. I didn?t take a picture because mine didn?t come out nearly as pretty as the ones on that website but they tasted great!! I originally found the recipe from Once a Month Mom?she?s my hero, love love love her recipes!!

Luke has been making us crack up lately because all he wants to do is sing ?The American Flag Song? and will refuse to sing anything else at the moment. My parents have a big American flag at their house and every time he sees one he starts singing?have you ever noticed how MANY American flags are flying in this great country?! (It?s worth noting that we?ve tried, on countless times, to also teach him the British anthem so as to balance out his patronage but he?s just not having any of that. Maybe when he gets his British passport he?ll take more notice that he?s half English!)I wonder if you could help me with something ? leave me a comment and tell me if you think he has a British accent. Julian says he doesn?t, but boy can I hear it here! What do you think?!
