8-Inch iPad Mini is Apple's Attempt at Putting Out the Fire (ContributorNetwork)

AFP is reporting that Amazon shipped 3.9 million Kindle Fires in the fourth quarter, good enough for a second place slice of market share to the Apple iPad. The report mentions Apple shipped 15.4 million iPads in the same time period. While the numbers seem to be worlds apart, these are two companies headed for a tablet showdown in the immediate future if the rumors are true.
