Obama Holds Narrow Edge in Swing States

Swing state polling for the presidential race is in for Wednesday, and all but one of the states six states polled show President Obama leading Republican challenger Mitt Romney. But those leads are very small, from a one-point lead in Ohio and Nevada to a five-point advantage in Pennsylvania.

The following are a selection of polls for swing states that could decide the presidency.

Ohio

Survey USA indicates that President Obama is holding onto only a one-point lead over Romney with 45 percent of the vote. Because the survey is within the margin of error, the results show a statistical tie.

The poll gave Columbus, Toledo, and Cleveland to President Obama, but Romney is ahead in Cincinnati and Dayton.

New Hampshire

In the only New England swing state, Rasmussen Reports has reported that each candidate is earning 48 percent of the vote, with only 1 percent undecided. The other 3 percent prefer a different candidate.

Nevada

Obama is up one point over Romney in Nevada, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Holding 47 percent of the vote to the challenger's 46 percent, the poll, conducted by Survey USA, also showed President Obama was viewed unfavorably, at 46 to 43 percent.

Florida

The University of North Florida gave the president somewhat better news than in other polls and in a state with many electoral votes, placing him four points ahead of Romney, 49 to 45 percent. His job approvals are at 52 percent, but on the topic of the economy Florida voters trust Romney and Obama equally at 44 percent.

Wisconsin

In the Badger State, President Obama has a two-point edge over Romney, at 51 to 49 percent according to Rasmussen Reports. The narrow margin for victory has tightened further since the president had a three-point lead in September.

Pennsylvania

Rasmussen Reports showed Obama at 51 percent to Romney's 46 percent in Pennsylvania, with only 1 percent of likely voters still undecided and 1 percent voting for someone else.
