The Suffolk County District Attorney's office says it's unlikely that 36-year-old Raymond Wallace will be arraigned on Thursday because of his very serious medical condition.
Police say two deputy sheriffs from Middlesex County were accompanying Wallace to an appointment at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary on Wednesday when Wallace suddenly tried to snatch a gun from one of the officers.
In the struggle that followed, police said one deputy was shot in the leg and his partner fired at Wallace, hitting him in the chest.
Wallace was in jail awaiting trial on armed robbery, masked robbery and firearms charges.
