The new major release of Mozilla's web browser, Firefox 8, officially launches Nov. 8. However, as usual, it's available to download on Mozilla's servers a bit early, meaning you can install it right now. The Windows version of Firefox 8 is here, while the Mac version can be downloaded here.

The new release comes only one and a half months after Firefox 7. This is in line with Mozilla's new rapid release strategy, under which we can expect a major new release of Firefox every 6 weeks.
Besides the usual stability and performance fixes, Firefox 8 brings support for Twitter in the search bar, some additional tab options (tabs can now be loaded at a user's request after a browser restart) and improved add-on management and security.
